JOG FOR JIM – MAY 17, 2008 – 8 A.M.
This 3rd annual 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) Run/Walk starts and finishes on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon. The course goes through the university neighborhood and passes by Hayward Field where the 2008 Olympic Trials will be held this summer. There will be overall and age group awards. This family oriented event will include live music, refreshments, random prize drawing and t-shirts for participants. Proceeds benefit Parkinson’s disease research. Early registration fees through May 16 are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and kids 10& under are free. Free kid entries must be mailed in. Day of race is $10 more for adults and $5 for students. VITALITY RUN AND WALK - JUNE 7, 2008 - 10 A.M. (New date, location, and time)
This 5k (3.1 miles) event moves to Springfield, Oregon, this year. It will be held on a new course starting at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. The course uses the new river trail system in northwest Springfield and Riverbend area streets. This event will be held right after the Lyle Hatfield Riverside Trail Dedication. Age group competition will be held with awards to overall male and female winners and ribbons to the top three finishers in each age group. Age groups in 5 year increments all the way up to 81 and over! These events benefit Meals on Wheels in Lane County, a program run jointly by the American Red Cross and Lane Council of Governments. STEEP HILL CHASE 5K CHALLENGE – JUNE 14, 2008 - 9A.M.
A challenge for the best and fun for the rest. The Eugene Hash House Harriers are organizing the Steep Hill Chase, an adventurous course through Alton Baker Park that includes Pre's Trail, single track trails, filbert orchards, bridges and the Steep Hill. Teva Shoe Company has partnered with us this year to provide all participants with a music CD including 20 tunes from hot current artists and 10 pairs of Tevas to give away. Random prizes include high tech gym bags, Rogue Brewery treats and the Grand Random Prize of a JVC Table Top CD/DVD Stereo from Bradfords Home Entertainment. Refreshments provided by Organically Grown, Bagel Sphere, Springfield Creamery, Golden Temple, Cytomax and more. Daycare will be provided for kids during race. The first overall male and female winners and first master female and male runners will receive shoes from The Eugene Running Company. WINDERMERE’S WET AND WILD 5K RUN AND WALK – JUNE 15, 2008 – 9 A.M.
This 5k (3.1 miles) takes place in the Bayshore district of Waldport, Oregon. There will be unique glass age groups awards, random drawings and refreshments. The course through beachside residential neighborhoods offers great views of the Alsea Bay Bridge and Pacific Ocean. CAPE MOUNTAIN TRAIL RUN – JUNE 28, 2008 – 10 A.M.
The Sixth annual 10-Mile trail run will start at Horse Creek Trailhead, 10 miles north of Florence., Oregon, and then three miles east from Highway 101 on Horse Creek Road. There is also a non-timed 5-Mile option. There are panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from several places on the course and the high point on Cape Mountain, the site of a 1930’s fire lookout. Award to the first overall man and woman. Awards to the first three men and women in each of the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Over. Plentiful refreshments at the finish. Entry fees: $35 with a Nike Dri-Fit shirt or $25 without shirt. Day of race is $5 more. RUN FOR THE PARK/RUN FOR THE KIDS -- JULY 19, 2008 - 8:00 AM (8K and 5K Run/Walk)
This 8k/5k run and walk starts and ends at Harry Holt Park in Creswell, Oregon. The course goes along country roads and through downtown Creswell. Awards will be given to First Overall Male and Female as well as age division winners. Random prize drawings for all participants will also be held. Water, fruit and bagels will be provided to all participants at the finish area. Entry fees to be announced.
SCANDIA RUN -- AUGUST 9, 2008 - 8 AM (10K), 8:05 AM (4.4 Mile Walk)
The 34th annual Scandia Run uses the same flat and fast course through Junction City and the surrounding countryside that has produced pr's for many runners. The 10 kilometer USATF certified course is basically out and back with a loop in the middle. Grand prizes include three separate Oregon getaway weekends by random drawing. Restroom and showers available at Junction City High School. Bring your own towels. Entry fees to be announced.
STATE FAIR RUN - AUGUST 23, 2008 - 8 A.M.
Meet us at the Fair! This 5 Kilometer (3.1 miles) run and walk takes place in around the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem, Oregon. The course goes through neighborhoods around the fair and also passes through the state fairgrounds itself where you can check out what you would like to see and do later in the day. The entry fee includes a t-shirt, free shower, and free admission to the fair! There will be age group awards and great refreshments after the run and walk. Entry fees to be announced. This is a great value for a fun time.
ROVER ROMP - AUGUST 24, 2008 - 8 A.M.
This 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) Run and a 2 Kilometer (1.24 miles) Walk is a benefit for Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, Oregon. The events offers something for runners an canines alike. The course will be flat and fast in west Eugene on Bike paths through the West Eugene Wetlands area. There will be categories for Runners only and Runners and Walkers with dogs. After the racing and walking there will be lots of activities across the street on the Greenhill lawn including a local dog Agility team, a Fly Ball competition, Grooming, Local Vendors, Raffles, Children's activities, and lots of fun. RUN THE DAM LOOP – AUGUST 30, 2008 – 8 A.M.
There will be a 15 Kilometer (9.6 miles) run and walk as well as a 5 Kilometer (3.1 miles) run and walk around Cottage Grove Lake. This event was formerly known as The Bohemia half-marathon and the same folks who gave you this great event are putting on this one. All entrants receive a commemorative, short-sleeve t-shirt. This is a perfect way to check your fitness for those upcoming fall marathons or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. The proceeds benefit Community Sharing, a basic needs agency that serves low-income residents of South Lane County and the Cottage Grove High School Cross Country team. Proceeds benefit Community Sharing and the Cottage Grove High School cross country program. EAT AND RUN -- SEPTEMBER 13, 2008 - 9 A.M.
Meet at Wyatt's Eatery in Albany, Oregon, on Friday for great Hor d'oeuvres and soft drinks and meet with members of the Albany School Foundation to find out more about what the foundation does for Albany's school children. Then do a 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) run and walk the next morning. The course starts and finishes at Ray’s Food Place in the new North Albany Village. The course crosses the Willamette River and goes through downtown Albany. Each participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category. Entry fees to be announced.
NORTHWEST CROSS COUNTRY CLASSIC (High School and Community Race) -- SEPTEMBER 27, 2008
The 5K course at Lane Community College in Eugene is on a firm grass surface, with some light sawdust trails, concluding with a fast finish on the rubber asphalt track. In addition, a few short hills add flavor to this fast, flat course. This is also the site of the Oregon State High School Championships to be held in November. Entry fees: to be determined. LIV'S FUN RUN AND WALK – OCTOBER 4, 2008 – 9 A.M. (TENTATIVE)
This 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) run and walk is named after Olivia McCurdy of Pleasant Hill, Oregon, who was killed on Hwy 58 spring of 2003. She was 2 1/2 years-old. Her father, Patrick McCurdy also died in the accident. This event is a fundraiser for the Pleasant Hill Pre School. Her parents had planned to send her to the school. The course starts and finishes at Trent Elementary School in Pleasant Hill (about 15 minutes from Eugene, Oregon) and meanders through Elijah Bristow State Park. Entry fees to be announced
DUCK DASH AND WALK - 5K RUN/WALK – OCTOBER 11, 2008 - 8:30 A.M.
This 10th annual fundraiser for the U. of O. School of Law Tom Foster scholarship fund features a unique campus course starting near the track at Hayward Field – the same track that will host the 2008 Olympic trials - and finishes at the law school in Eugene, Oregon. There will be special random prizes including theater and concert tickets and refreshments at the finish. Awards will be given to overall and master’s winners as well as first three in 5-year age divisions. Entry fees to be announced.
MONSTER DASH – 10 MILE RUN AND 5K RUN/WALK – OCTOBER 25, 2008 – 10 A.M. (New event added!)
This year’s event will feature a 10 mile run as well as the traditional 5k (3.1 miles) distance. The race will start at the Slocum Center in Eugene and finish in nearby Alton Baker Park. There will be costume judging, great apparel, and post race refreshments. There is even a special event for pets. Entry Fees to be announced.
27th ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DAY "TURKEY STUFFER" 5K RUN AND FAMILY FUN WALK - NOVEMBER 27, 2008 - 8:30 AM
This is great way to prepare for that Thanksgiving Day meal. If the Run or Walk doesn't work up an appetite, then exercise a little more after the "Stuffer" with a free swim at Willamalane Parks & Recreation Splash Wave Pool. Course loops through Thurston residential neighborhood. Free Burger King breakfast entree for the first 1,000 entries courtesy of the Eugene Running Company. Packets will also include a special, sweet, holiday treat. This will be a DAG chip timed race, but times will be based on gun time. The disposable chip will be on the back of the race bib. This means you don't have to return the chip or bib after finishing the race. If you choose to recycle your chip, DAG will make a donation to UNICEF. Early registration through November 26, $19 with long-sleeved t-shirt; $12 without t-shirt; youth, 11 and under with t-shirt $12, youth without t-shirt, free. T-shirts guaranteed only through November 26. Day of race is $20 without t-shirt and $30 with shirt (if available). So, register early! Strollers will be allowed this year, but ONLY in the walk. Strollers will not be timed and no numbers will be issued to strollers. No dogs please. We will enforce these restrictions.
